This winter, the Dodge received a couple more upgrades. I'm installling a turbocharger that Tiim Jr. gave me for Christmas. In addition, I'm replacing the original 3 speed with a T-5 from the S-10 we used on the 52 Chevy project. We started just after Christmas, 2010.

Tim gave me a turbo for Christmas. Here it is, mocked up on the Dodge. It is from a '84 Pontiac Sunbird, with a Brazilian 1.8L. I removed the headers and installed an exhaust manifold from a Power Wagon. Here is the manifold to turbo piping tacked together. With my plasma, I made a few flanges for the turbo. Here is the first (too thick for my plasma), the second (big hole too big). The third fit just right.
I bent up some oil supply line. Here's a shot of the complete exhaust to turbo pipe. Turbo cleaned up and oil return line installed. The oil will return to the fuel pump block off plate.
The turbo is on, awaiting a carburetor. I bought this carb at the swap meet for ten bucks. It's from a '74 Vega, and my carb guy said it has never been installed or run. Score! My cat, Mange has taken up residence in a shoe box. Cats...
While waiting on the carb rebuild, Jr. and I removed the old 3 speed and installed a T-5.This is the old 3 speed. The new T-5. This is from Daryl's S-10
that we put under his '52.
Langdon's adapter kit has these two pieces, plus a new pilot bushing.
I already had installed the pilot bushing when I got the camera out. Bushing installed in throwout bearing. New holes drilled and tapped for trans mounting.
Thanks to Tom at http://www.stoveboltengineco.com for the adapter kit. Now to make a new shifter. Click for larger image. Chevy Astro van driveshaft. The original shifter. I took about 35 degrees
of bend out of it.
The new shifter handle. I made it so it screws
onto the original shifter. Still looking for the right
shifter handle.
The Vega carb. Dave at The Carb Shop re-gasketed it, jetted it up a little, and put a different power valve in for the turbo. My carb adapter I made. My first job with my new Tig welder. I need lots of practice.
The carb mounted on the adapter. I made an air box for the top of the carb. Top view. Bottom view. I still need to install the piping
from the turbocharger.
The semi-finished turbo. Still needs an air
cleaner and pop off valve.

Close up showing the waste gate. The new shifter handle.
Pete's Wicked Ale.
New fuse panel is from Affordable Street Rods.
I've used several of his kits. Awesome.
The finished product. The turbo makes some pretty good boost! Click on image for a larger view View from the left side, snowing the blowoff
valve. Click on image for a larger view.
